Planning a Rwanda safari

Rwanda packs mountain gorillas, chimpanzees, the Big Five and a vast inland lake into a country smaller than Belgium. Most travellers combine two or three parks in 5–10 days; a gorilla trek alone can be done in a day from Kigali. Every tour includes a private 4×4, an English-speaking guide, park fees and, where needed, permits secured on your behalf.

How much does a Rwanda safari cost?

Expect $450–$900 per person per day for a private mid-range safari, plus $1,500 for each gorilla permit. Luxury lodges roughly double the daily cost.

How many days do I need in Rwanda?

Three days covers gorilla trekking; a week lets you add Akagera or Nyungwe; ten days shows you the whole country without rushing.

Can I combine Rwanda with Uganda or Tanzania?

Yes. Many guests add a Serengeti safari or Bwindi gorillas. Tell us and we plan the whole route.

Are your tours private?

Almost all of them. A few short trips run as small groups of up to seven to keep the price down — they are marked on each tour.
